Default Problem with 1998 Honda Civic EX (Video inside)

Alright guys so this morning I was driving home from Wal Mart when all of a sudden my CEL starts flashing while im driving and i lost a lot of power when accelerating. I manage to get it back home and notice its idling real rough....and fluctuates, and the CEL remains on...could anyone know what the problem could be?

could be a number of things, raging from bad plugs, to map sensor to primary 02 sensor. Those thigns alone would surely cause misfiring and loss of power.

From My experiences, a flashing CEL was due to having all 4 sparkplugs be dead and misfiring, along with a clogged map sensor that caused the motor to get wayy too much fuel.

Well I just replaced my spark plugs with some NGK V-Powers....so I don't think that could be the problem, how would I go about checking the sensors?

And I would take it out to autozone but i'm afraid the car is gonna die on me on the way there and i'll be stranded in the middle of nowhere....

I had the same problems that you are having. I found out that cylinder #1 was dead.

Also, I would like to mention I took it for a drive a little bit ago. Once I would accelerate it would have no power from 1-3k rpms, but after that it was like normal....my friend said it could be a blown HG but I hope not...any suggestions?

I cannot tell anything from the video - but I'm on a lappy right now - with speakers the size of a quarter.

Anyway, from reading the replies...

I used to have an ongoing problem with this-or-that injector sticking WFO on my D16Y5.

What I did was open the hood and tap on the injector bodies with a pocket knife, pliers, screwdriver handle - or whatever I had handy - and I was good until the next time it happened - a week - a month - a year, blah, blah, blah - didn't happen all the time...

I never could figure out WHY this happened, but it seemed to make a difference as to whether or not I allowed the fuel system to 'pump up' before hitting the starter. If I just jumped in my ride and hit the starter without waiting for the fuel pump to do it's thing, this is usually when an injector would stick and flood a cylinder - usually fouling the spark plug in the process.

Anyway, I'll watch your video again when I'm on a desktop machine (with real speakers) and see if it offers any clues.
