Primary O2 sensor part number?
I searched the heck out of this place and found loads of O2 info but didn't see any part number references.
My specific question is this: I've seen the denso 234-4099 listed in one place as the primary for a 97 y7 with AUTO tranny but when I looked at the same site and for a 97 y7 MANUAL they list the 234-4099 as the secondary O2 sensor and show some other more expensive one for the manual-primary o2.
This left me very much confused. I was under the impression that the o2 wouldn't be any different between auto and manual cars of otherwise the same specs. Can anyone lend a hand with this? I really don't want to take it in the pipe for a different sensor that doesn't need to be a different sensor if you know what I mean.
sub-question: is denso the recommended price vs. performance replacement? I've heard bad things about brands like walker and bosch sensors in hondas.
thanks for helpin out the n00d

I can't read.. the secondary is different.
36532-P2E-A01 - DX manual
36532-P2E-A51 - DX auto
the primary is the same for auto/manual.
36531-P2E-A01 - '97 DX
WTF???
NGK lists
24172 FRONT Auto Trans
24172 REAR Auto Trans
24172 REAR Manual Trans
24300 FRONT Manual Trans

Re: (Relic1)
I'm glad it's not just me getting weird numbers for this one!
My buddy just got a 96 LX auto so I think I'm going to have to compare our two cars to see the difference. Maybe it's something extra stupid like a little bracket on the connector or something. I'll get to the bottom of this thing yet... and until I do I'll just cruise around with my CEL on burning extra gas

Re: (Fishy)
I took a good look at the O2 sensor in my 97 manal lx and compared it to my friend's 96 auto lx and the sensor connectors and protruding ends looked the same to me. So I'm ordering up a Denso sensor. I'll update again after I get it/install it just in case anyone else is curious.
cheers

SUCCESS!
The O2 sensor R&R went without a hitch and the car is running great again now without a CEL.
The denso 234-4099 was a direct fit and works great despite it being listed as the secondary sensor for my car (but primary for the exact same car with an auto tranny).
