Default Pricing a SWAP for CIVIC

Ive got a 98 civic coupe ex. I want to swap the engine. I have all the money but I want to get a good price. I dont want to be bent over and *** rammed because of the cost.
I called a shop earlier and they gave the the price of $5500 for a H22. Ive got the money but it seems way over priced. Please if you have any info or have had a swap let me know. I want to have an idea of how much I am going to need to spend before I go shopping around for prices.
Thanks much!

Is there any way you could do it yourself? Or do you not have the tools? I am almost in the same boat. The h22 swap will be pretty high from a shop because of all the custom stuff that has be done/installed. If you just bought the h22 complete swap from hmotorsonline.com, with the custom hasport axles, and mounts, then rigged up the cable shifter, you would be quite a way under $5500. They also have a h2b kit out now so you can basically have a h22 attached to a b series tranny, axles, mounts, everything. It is a extra $1000 however. Just giving you some insight. Good luck with your choice.

I will be getting a b16a3 here shortly in my 93 dx hatch and I think a b16 is definately a good platform for upgrading. It can handle boost well, and even stock it is a damn fun engine, being able to rev to 8200 stock is a nice thing.

5500 is a bit high, but you have to remember a LOT of work is required for an h22 swap

rewired harness
cutting the floor for the shifter cables
mounts
axles

for 5500 you can get a engine from hmotorsonline.com and turbo it and it would still be cheaper.

that just shows how much you can save by doing it your self. sure i could of spent another 800 buxks on labor but why? i could get some forgen internals for that much. i had no prior swap or turbo expierience before i did the swap and turbo install. hell i had never even ridden in a turbo car before i did it. all you have to do is research and then just do it. its easy.

I think an h22 would be too hard for me to do alone or with some friends.
Does a B16 bolt directly in? And what problems if any would I encounter?
