Default Prices increasing for used Civics? Whats you local market like?

Has anyone noticed any price changes on Civics with the recent rise in gas prices? I just seen a clapped out 96 DX stock coupe for sale for $5900 firm and another EF Civic 4 door LX for 3k.

I'm interested if anyone else has been noticing a steady rise in civic prices on the West Coast. East Coast guys can chime in, but don't compare rotten rusty cars to dry cars.

yes, ive noticed the same. If the price is even reasonable, its mangled in some way. If its clean, they want more than it cost new.

you are seeing what is called the ricer effect. Everyone in their mother wants an older civic to rice out and swap. Thus making the prices higher for a well kept stock car.

It happens for a few months every time a new Fast and Furious movie is released. Look for another slight increase when it comes out on DVD too .

loool, the ricer effect huh, must also be a product of the "JDM Crap theory too" if pple want stock cars then they don't want the ones that pple like u buy up and put ur $120 JDM ash tray and $300 JDM cigarette lighter with the enhanced cigarette symbol in Japanese that u try to sell as a stock JDM car for 65% more than it's worth...

i'm in the chicago, gary Indiana area...

and bascially all of the posts are correct....everyone in my area wants a honda to "trick" out even tho i know they mean strickly ricing out...its horrible and prices on them are definately outraegous..

i drove all the way to TN just to buy my car b/c i knew there wouldn't be any deals on EG/Delsol's around here...

BTW....just a hint of how much people are paying for stuff these days

some local ricer boy with a miata wanted something differnt
so he looked around for a RHD EG
found one....dude wants 10K for it...

so he goes to the local bank and borrow's 10G's...
picks up his RHD EG with an R swap....stock paint..Stock GSR wheels...JDM goodies inside Nice car....

but 10k?....can he justify driving on the right side for 10k?

go buy a nice car...not a civic....and no...i'm not jealous..

this ricer local once admitted to having one boyfriend...and 11 girlfriends in his life....weird weird ****...

yea, not unless their is somethin wrong with it, it'll be a good chunk of change
like i found a 95 del sol it's got full body kit carbon fiber hood air cylinders and a full system, and what is wrong with it is the cylinders need maintiance(so that could be n-e-thing from the air lines to the cylinders them self) but the system works the engine works fine it needs a new battery just cause it hasn't moved for a while the guy said he didn't have enough money to keep it up, and i was the first person to ask about buying it so he said 2Gs strait up and it mine. which is hella cheap for what he put into it.

Last week I talked to a friend who owns a used car lot. he said the past few weeks Civics have been selling at the auction for near dealer retail prices. He said he was bidding on/buying all he could find because of the demand.

i haven't noticed a price increase per se, although i've noticed that eg's have depreciated very little over the years and ek's have seemingly not depreciated at all (find a post on the net for an ek shell, people usually asking around $2000... and that's for a cheap one!--who the hell is going to pay that for a shell?!)

simple, honda's are reliable and good on gas mileage, so they don't depreciate like other cars, hence 95 civics going for 5k

In my city the new civics are not very well liked by the public because of there horrible shape. For this reason, the older civics are in very high demand. As a matter of fact, my dealership wanted to trade for my 99 civic ex for $8700 when the kbb value is only $6900.

I paid $3700 for my 94 EX coupe with 64k original miles, I thought it was alot at the time but the car is in mint condition with AC and adult owned so I dont feel so bad.

And yes here in Texas, civics are a dime a dozen so $3700 for a 94 may seem like alot to some. But I am happy!
