Price of D16y8 Engine!???????
I just spun a rod bearing in my car. I was going to rebuild it but decided to just buy a used engine and use the old block to build up!
I searched "d16y8" In this Forum but didnt want to go through 300+ threads.
Heres the question, What is the average price of a d16y8 long block. No tranny. Basically everything to install without the tranny.
Here's the list of what Im talking about.
-Complete Block
-Complete Head and Valvetrain.
-Intake mani
-Throttle Body
-Harness
-All sensors
-All accessories
-and anything else I missed that goes on the engine
I just dont want to get ripped off....Thanks Guys

Damn,
Do you guys see any reason why i paid 1250 for one!?
Im totally pissed right now.
Well the condition is Good! Came out Running and Compression numbers are good. I had the place do one before I purchased it and it was 190 across the board.
Can anyone think why they were asking so much?
The cheapest I found was 850, well, on ebay!
Any Advice!?

DAmn was that installed with labor and all that good stuff at a shop or was that just for the engine alone ???
if it was for labor and parts then its not half bad at all but still a little pricey
700 more dollars would have had you a b16

I looked into a B16 But I would have had to pay about 2000 (1800 engine, the rest freight) shipped because of the Hydro Tranny that is if I went through one of the JDM outlets online. Im pretty sure I could have got a better deal if I went private party.
And Im pretty sure that 1250 (shipped) is just for the engine! Again, Im sure I would have got a better deal If I went private party, But I did go through one of those Engine outlets!
Oh Well, you win some, you lose some

It all depends on where you live. If a lot of people a doing B swaps in your area, D's will be cheap, other wise they are not. My friend put a d16y8 in his car a couple of years ago and paid $900 (did it himself). Your engine has pretty low miles, plus it's tested, so you know what you’re getting.
You always have to wonder when you get something too cheep.
If you’re engine is certified and has a warranty, you got a good deal.
V-tec oil pressure switch alone goes for $80 at a dealer (not including the whole solenoid assembly). Good parts always cost more.

Yea, Its not that I dont mind to much paying a little extra for security. It does come with a warranty too....Not much of one but it does. Basically says that the motor will have compression and is guaranteed to have close 0%-5% leakdown per cylinder.
I do like that is has low miles! ****, the one that I was boosting had 120k on it. However, it did last about 12k miles.
The purpose to getting the new engine was so that I had a spare block on the side so that I could build it.
But thanks for all the replies!

Please do not bump threads that are 8 years old. Also go to the marketplace to look for stuff to buy.
