Prelude seat tech ?
Ok, i may have the opportunity to pick up some fairly cheap 92 prelude seats. Now my question is, will my 97 coupe brackets bolt up to the bottom pan of the prelude seats and have everything work? or will i have to remove the bull clips and such and swap bottom pans so they will fit?
anyone know what im talkin about?

It is alot of work, since the rails attach differently than the civics do. You will have to make some custom brackets. I say it's worth it if you can get the seats for free or for cheap!

im sure its alot of work, but im wondering if i could do something similar to what that one guy did with his s2k seats in his civic. He took the botttom assembly and cushion off the civic so that he had the metal pan that everything attaches to, and swaped those over so that he could have civic rails and the seats from the s2k.
its alot of work, but i like the feel of the seats and the price would be just over $100 shipped to me. That isnt bad for the comfort and support they offer over my seats. hopefully they will sit a bit lower as well seeing as im 6'2 and almost hit my head on the roof when im in the car.

It's a bunch of work....just tried it recently. Your going to have to make custom brackets....making seat brackets youself probally wont pass tech inspection at a track!

I used to have a Prelude and I will say that I love the seats! They should sit lower if you make custom brackets but I'm not so sure that they will be lower if you use the Civic buckets. If I were you, I'd go for it! When you do it, make sure to write up a tech story on how to do it and make sure to include pictures.

I'm your man with Prelude seats in a Civic. A '99 Civic to be exact, so your floor mounts should be the same as mine.
Two things you'll need to do to make 'em fit:
1. Swap the inside rails. The rear-inner mounting point on a Prelude is flat, on the Civic it's more vertical. These bolt right up with 2 or 4 bolts if I remember correctly. Make sure to reattach the wire that goes in between the two cables so the seats slide foward/back properly. Make sure they're tight too, you may need to modify them a little. My passenger side wasn't tight enough and the rear-seat release automatic-slider didn't work until that wire was tightened.
2. On the outer rails, just bend the rear-outer rail end down so it's parallel with the mounting point in the floor. Note: you'll have about a 1/2 inch gap between the end of the rail and the mounting hole. So... find some longer bolts (take your bolts to a hardware store or bolt/nut store) and something to use as a spacer between the end of the rail and mounting point.
The two front rail mounting points should bolt right up with no modifications.
The seat height is about the same as stock. The side bolsters are about a 7 out of 10 for holding capability. The bottom bolsters suck. I has at a track a few weeks ago and my *** was sliding sideways through the turns.
I'm 6'0", 200lb and they fit me perfect.
Another project for these seats may be to weld in some 1/4" spring wire to support the side and bottom bolsters a little better.
Let me know if you have any other questions on this. I have some pics on photos.yahoo.com/pupascoopa in the "Car" folder.

I'm pretty sure you have to swap the bottom pan things or mod them in some other way in order to make it work, but i have the seats in my hatch and i can tell you they are sooo damn comfy and are worth all the work it will take. good luck.
I would tell you how to do it, but the seats came in the car.
