depending on the amount of usage...just get the cheap stuff. Get a die grinder for 10 bucks and if it goes bad, get a new one. It all depends on how much you use it.

I have all Craftsman air tool- work for Sears, and I love them. I've also used some Ingersol Rand, and those are good too. What in partcular?? Impact, air ratchet and die grinder?? Those are the basics anyone can use

I bought my air compresor there. It's a Cambell Hausfield. My dad says they're crap, but I got a 3 yr warranty so I don't mind. I don't use them that often though. At harbor freight they don't sell that many brand names as far as tools go. If you want to spend the money, get a Dewalt or makita or something along those lines, for a compressor or tools. Otherwise just get the cheap ****. I did and it still cost me 350.

My die grinder is made by RP, whoever the heck that is... I have two impact wrenches, one by Craftsman and one by S-K Tools... I usually use the S-K tools because I like the weight and feel better than the Craftsman... As far as which is better, well the Craftsman can handle alot more p.s.i. than the S-K.... As far as the compressor I will go look at the brand later, but I bought it at AutoZone with my discount... Its just a little 2 horse, 10 gallon... It gets the job done... As far as recommendations, and lasting you can't go wrong with Craftsman, Snap-On or the larger companies because they usually all have lifetime warranties, so it makes it worth the extra money in the end, because I can break some craftsman **** left and right... Dunno why. Not saying they are bad, but I have broken sockets before...My cousin broke a socket in half, so if you plan on it lasting, and you mix that with using them really hard the warranty pays for itself lol.

Alright, I work for Sears Repair Center and I know this stuff.

Craftsman power tools only have a 1 year warranty, only hand tools(sockets, wrenches, screwdrivers, etc) have lifetime.

As far as getting cheap stuff that will last, go to your nearest Sears Repair Center and buy Reconditioned air tools. At my work, we have 3/8ths drive air ratchets for 75% of brand new from retail store. These have the same one year warranty, and you can extend it another year for 15% of the cost. That's 2 years coverage for 10% cheaper than retail.

As far as compressors, get as big of one you can afford. I have a 6hp 30 gallon 5 star compressor by Craftsman. This is perfect. The big tank can hold plenty of air, so when I'm contstantly using a die grinder, da sander, or painting, it's not running constantly. You can buy reconditioned Craftsman air compressors too with the same waranty as retail. At my work now, we have a 5.5 hp 20 gallon compressor for 189.99. This is the stand up model too. If you ask me, this is a GREAT buy. Check out your nearest Parts and Service Center. Call 1-800-4-My-Home.

I'm not reppin for Sears cause I hate big companies, but the prices are right and the waranties are good.

I also say Craftsman air tools. We've been using some in the shop daily for 10 years and they're still going strong. Make sure you use an inline filter, lube up the tools whenever you use them, and drain the tank afte every use.

Another option you might look at is seeing if you can get refurbished (air) tools online or through your local sears outlet. My dad just recently bought a craftsmen air wrench and a saws-all refurbished from Sears (not sure if it was online or at the store, I'll ask) for really good prices and both items work great, I used the air socket driver on my car when I installed my turbo kit.

[EDIT]: **** we must be thinkin' the same thing evan... (I think I got your name right... lol... this is matt-eg, the guy you were gonna buy those HX's from)

haha, glad you likes

Edit- you can't buy reconditioned stuff online. Only at the stores. We also carry electronics and close out merchandise for WAY cheaper. I just sold a brand new 4000$ tractor for 2200 out of our store!

Edit again- HAHA, why'd you change your name? Did I tell you I got a good deal on another set?

Edit last time- If you need any recon stuff, I'll hook you up cheap! I usually take off another 30% for friends!

don't buy an impact gun rated under 400ftlbs, you won't be able to do a damn thing on your car if you have any tough bolts.

Impact wrenches and air rachets usually have required cfm at a certain psi, so make sure the air compressor is strong enough. Here is a good post that will help you out.

SNAP-ON

One of the best brands if not the best. Quite pricey though.
