Default power steering rack, no pump

so my car came with a gsr power steering rack, but no pump. my steering feels really loose sometimes. would the fact that i dont have a pump be the cause of the loose feeling in my steering wheel?

Can you define what you mean by "loose"?

when we remove p/s pumps, we add a smaller fluid res., and a t - going to a loop from feed line to return on rack , this way rack stays lubricated, I've seen many without this but it seems to work for us

Sounds like outer tie rod ends to me. Does it always pull to the same side? I had that start to happen to me, new tie rod ends and problem went away. Be sure to get it aligned after the replacement.

the only adjustment on the Civic front end it toe. Unless you have installed a camber kit. Is it stock?

I had the same issues with a PS rack.
One thing you can do is remove all of the valving in the rack, fill it with grease, and put it back together. It will tighten up the feel quite a bit.

i recently installed tein HA'S, and the alignment is perfect. but it's still feeling "loose". maybe putting a power steering pump will solve it?
