Power steering rack to CX manual rack swap
I'm just wondering what if anything i will need to swap in a manual rack from an EK CX into my 1997 EK. Will i need a different u-joint between the rack and steering shaft?

For the 5th gen (EGs) i'm told you need the knuckle (u-joint) and the spacer that goes between the rack and the firewall from the donor car.

Doesn't the P/S rack have a better ratio? Can't you just loop off the line at that rack, with a hose, and be done with it.

The 5 speeds do, the automatics have power steering (automatic CXs were available, i'm not sure if they were offered in the US)
Better isn't really right word, it is quicker, but it takes more effort to turn than a real manual rack
You should add a resorvoir and breather in there as well, but yeah.

Re: Power steering rack to CX manual rack swap
do you have the rack already?
i just took the lines off of my rack in my ex coupe. my friend has a DA with powersteering installed and working, and id say they are little to no difference in turning strength needed.
if you've got the CX rack then why not just rip out yours, and put that one in..compare the parts to see whats different.. and then buy them?
