Power Lose after intake install
I get a major power loss after I installed a new intake. It isn't all the time either, it will just happen. It just feels like it drags. Kinda of like having the emergency brake on while you go. The only way I can get rid of it is if turn off the car and then turn it back on it will drive normal.
Do you think that the intake gasket is bad on the manifold. |
You throwing any CEL?
|
Re: (JDMlyfestyle)
Your sig says it all, Egay ram air https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emthdown.gif . Do you reset the Ecu after install the Egay ram air intake?
|
No constant CEL, but I do get one everyonce in a while. It just pops up random too.
|
is ur car slower when the the CEL is on?
|
Yes any ideas
|
Yes check the ECU code thread at the top of the page or see the link in my signature. and see what the code is.

Re: (JDMlyfestyle)
sounds like a coincidence..
probably something else wrong.. |
Well I can't check the code b/c when I go to check it, it goes away.
I'm Almost sure that it is a vacuum leak or a leak in the manifold gasket |
Re: (pro547)
leave the car running and check it
|
I tried it just gives a solid CEL. Pretty sure there is nothing wrong with the exu though. Also I noticed that my lights are dimming while accelerating. If I dont accel and just coast then they are normal bright but when I give it gas then they dim.

Just jump the connectors and turn the ignition on and it will give you a code. Try it and let us know what code you get. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif |
Just checked I get a solid CEL. I'm pretty sure that the isn't is fried. The only other thing that I noticed is that the idle jumps from 400 to 1500 all the time even while the car is warmed up. Makes me think that there is a vacuum leak somewhere. The IACV gets really hot too. I don't know if it is suppose to?
Thx for all the help |
Re: (pro547)
try spraying your iac out with some carburator cleaner it just might be clogged. same thing happend after i installed my new intake. when you do spray it hose the thing down dont go light on it or it wont solve the problem.

If you get a solid CEL, Why not see what code it is like was suggested. Just count how many times it blinks. A long blink is 10, and a short one is 1.
I believe thats how it goes. Someone with more experience correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks David |
Re: (1995Ex_Sedan)
thats true but if you shut the power of the car off it erases the code...
|
When I go to check the code I get a solid CEL which means that the ECU is OK? I'm not sure if that info is correct.

Re: (pro547)
check your pcv system. It sounds like you have a vaccum leak. Also check your throttle body gasket to make sure you did not install it upside down. If your gasket is upside down you are letting too much air bypass the throttle plate and enter the iacv.
good luck |
what is there to check on the PCV system? Is there a way to check it by not unistalling the intake manifold?
|
just to be clear, how are you checking the code?
|
Re: (Turbo E)
doesnt random cel could mean misfire too?
|
I plug a wire that loops the 2 pins on the blue connecter under the dash. I only get the random CEL like 2 times a week.
|
BUMP need to get this fixed. This is my daily driver
|
how can u tell if the gasket is upside down on the aem cai
