Default Post Mini-Me problems....

I finally got my mini-me finished after some valve train issues that forced me to get another Y8 cam. Everything is back together and running smooth, or so I thought. I get in and drive for awhile and it runs fine no CEL's and after driving for a period of time it looses all low RPM power. It almost seems like it wants to die but it still idles perfect and won't die. If I get the RPM's up around 4000+ it still runs good but when I get below 4000 it has no power at all. I thought that I had bent some valves or maybe the timing belt slipped but every thing checks out OK. The timing belt still lines up the crank and cam gear at TDC, the timing is still set perfect, and the compression test results revealed 180-190 on all for cylinders. I am lost here on what could be wrong. It is a Y7 block with a Y8 head and intake manifold running a P28 ecu with jumper harness and no CEL's. When it starts to run crappy I can let it sit for 5 minutes still running and it will run fine again for a little while and do it again. It sounds like the vtec is working properly, do you think that this sounds vacuum related or does anyone have any idea of what can be causing this? I am running a 99-00 civic Si wiring harness so all of the wiring should be cool. Please help me if you can I am out of ideas.

I have the same problem, im thinking its leaky valves cause thats what someone told me so im goign to check the valve train soon. But the car doesnt pull untill about 4000, and the dile kind of fructuates, a slow fructuation, not like a vacuum leak, i played around with the throttle cable and that seems to be the problem. I just tightened it. But the idle still moves once in a while.

P28 is obd1 that is why I have the conversion harness. It could be the valves I figure, but my compression test came back great. I also put in a new clutch as well. I didn't bleed the clutch the proper way yet and I don't know if that might have something to do with it. I do have another Y8 head in the garage just in case.

Really? Thats why I shaved a second off my quarter mile time with it?

BTW i'm still running a DX tranny...

To the thread starter, I don't know what the hell is wrong. Sounds like a problem unrelated to the swap, like with the head internally...good luck

Thanks for the info. I picked up another head yesterday along with a bunch of other parts for dirt cheap. I know that this head is in good shape, so maybe I will swap them tomorrow or later this week.
