Possibly picking up a Del Sol.. worth the money?
here is my situation.
i have a guy who owns a used and abused 94' sol.
The Bad:
its been sitting in his back yard for a couple years (but still ran occasionally)
it has poor paint, a body kit, z3 fenders, euro tails, faded headlights and the trunk needs to be replaced.... the absolute works
The Good:
the roof seals, the motor runs, tranny shifts smooth. the interior is in salvageable condition.
He wants $400 for the car. which is not alot of money.but im also thinking in terms of how much im going to immediately have to put into the car.
not looking to do much to it, i want to replace all the body panels with stock.
lower it, and put some nice wheels on it (it has steelies at the moment)
is this a great deal? or will the replacement parts end up costing me more than if i were to just find a sol in better shape?
thanks, matt.

thanks for the replies.
for sure no rust.. we dont get snow down south
i guess the upside is i can do a little at a time opposed to buying a sol outright fro $2,500 bucks..
i'll update if the deal goes through.. im scared to even show pics though.. its pretty ugly.

BRACE YOURSELVES...
once again, it doesnt look like it, but the car does run and shift smooth lol..
looking at it, i almost feel like i have to save it... otherwize it will probably rot away in this guy's back yard.
the dent on the roof doesnt spill over into the targa area or over the windshield seal... the winshield was cracked as a result of another instance...
dare i ask again...would you guys save this poor car for $400?

For $400 I would definitely buy it and save it. It would be a nice project to work on. Get it and make sure to get pictures of the progress.

talk him down haha. but remember, there probably isnt any immediate money that has ti be put in it as long as it drives.. buy it, and drive it, because once it's yours, its YOURS and you can spend money on it one part at a time, over time

It looks bad in the pics, but I'm sure once you clean it off, it won't look nearly as bad.
Maybe you can sell the bumper and fenders to recoup the cost of a stock bumper and fenders. Or just do a EG front end conversion. It's a straight swap I believe. Hood, fenders, bumper, lights.
The dent isn't too bad, they sell stud guns at harbor freight and you can pull it out. Or take the headliner out and knock it out possibly.

i say get it.. i mean if you dont feel like building the car at all.. at least you can part it out and make alot more than $400 back from it.. hell you can sell the engine and tranny for almost that if not more

Pick it up save a sad little sol. I got mine for 175 but it had a hole in the block and was missing a few little things. Still isnt running but she is getting there. Spray paint is a pain to get rid of so buy a soda blaster thats what I am goin to do to mine its rattle canned.
