Possible transmission problem.
Wuzup people, this is the deal. i have a 96 honda civic ex. during driving in first or second, the car makes a sound like it's in reverse.(that winding sound) when i park the car and let it run, it knocks with the rpm,if the rpm goes up, the knocking goes up & vice versa. funny thing is, when i put the clutch in, it disappears completely, when i let go of the clutch it comes back.
