Possible to still have spark with bad igniter?
Just as the topic says. Is it possible to have a bad igniter and still have spark. My '99 Si won't start. I've checked for fuel and that is present(have a fuel pressure guage), I've checked for spark and that is present(not a bright blue color, kind of orange) and the timing is OK I had the belt changed less than 20k ago. The car has been running perfect. I was just waiting my turn to go into the car wash and when I went to start the car it wouldn't fire up. It will try to start but immediately die. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My ignitor was on its last legs and sometimes would die, but I could get it started and running every once in a while. It was also dependent on the weather, like in rainy weather it wouldn't even have sparked but in hot dry weather it would run. Once I replaced it no more problems.

As stated above, igniters usually either work, or they don't. A weak spark usually indicates a coil problem. Some igniters fail when they get hot. The car runs for a while, but when the igniter reaches a certain temperature, it stalls and won't restart. After the car cools down, it will restart.
