Possible to run B16A short block+GSR head?
One of my friend have a B17 short block + GSR head setup. But since he got low compression reading on two of the cylinders. He found a 00 Si short block and thinking if he can make use of the GSR cylinder head he has now.
I knew there are some ppl who use a GSR short block to go with P73/P30 head. But did anyone tried to use a 99+ Si short block to go with a GSR head?
How did it turn out? Or it's just a idea?
He just want a healthy engine. Which has the about the same power that u can get from a Si(SiR) motor.

Yes it can be done and should run fine. Is the GSR head from the B17 93 GSR or a new B18 GSR? And what car is it going into..I just wouldn't put a 1.6 into a teg.

It will work just fine one thing i would do is put a 2 layer head gasket on it...that will bump his compression up to about 10.4:1

Yeah I found that it will go up to 10.4:1 if he has a P72 head/ 10.2:1 with a P71 head?
Well I suggested him to spend a bit $ to rebuild the head just to make sure it runs good. Then put in a SPOON 2p gasket.
No he has a 93 civic Si hatch.
Anyone running similiar setup?

yeah anyone with a gsr head setup on a b16 block?
i can get a portflow gsr head cheap, and i have a b16a (SiR2) block
would this setup be okay?
i heard stuff about the valve seating of the head, and the pistons on the b16 might not be compatible
let me know
thanks
