Is it possible to wire up the parking lights so that they only blink when teh turn signal is on? I'd like to make it so that they dont stay illuminated while driving.

True, but then you have that annoying hyper-blink action... AND it blinks dim. Does anyone know how to do it so that it blinks normal? I've always wanted to know this as well.

if it's for the 5th gen, yes. if you take your bulb out you will see two little nipples on the bottom, one is for blinking and the other is for the parking lights. If you just take some electrical tape and tape over the nipple that controls the parking light they'll only blink when you turn on your turn signal...i've been running this setup for over a year now on the same bulbs and have had no probs at all....

oh and for cutting wires....
if you ever want to go back to the original setup all you have to do is remove the piece of tape....

why? get a butt connector and 2 minutes and it's fixed.

anyway, does anybody know how to do this on a 6th gen? i also wanna get rid of the "always on" parking lights. and a faster turn signal would kill me

The bulbs are dual filament. Cutting the front parking light wires will not make the turn signals flash faster. They are not even on the same channel as the turn signals.

ok, so if i cut the wire, my turn signals will work just as good as they do now, without turning on when my headlights are on? which wire do i cut?

i did the tape trick back in the day when i had a EG, but then people kept on changing lanes into me, because they didn't see me. so i took off the tape and put the corners back on. i have to admit tho, it does look good without the corner bulbs on all the time.

all you do is remove the steering column covers, find a big white plug, and switch two wires that go into it. I think i'm going to do it tomorrow.

i don't think you should cut ANY wires. instead, remove the bulb, and look into the plug socket. use a pin and kind of push the connector up and out of the socket. it is so much better doing it this way than cutting, because at least if you change your mind later, you can just simply plug back in the wire. much cleaner IMO.

jdm headlight setup thats the way it is, the corners are only turn signals and parking lights are inside the headlights. jdm may be played out to some people, but certain parts are still cleaner than usdm counterpart i.e. headlights and corners

u just cut the parking light wire...on 6th gens its the red wire w/ black stripe coming out of the socket...its not gonna make ur signal blink faster and its not hard to re-connect the wires afterwards if u wanna change it

well, I just finished doing the EDM headlight trick as seen in the link i posted. it's exactly as the instructions say (i did this on my '97 EJ8 EX). the only hard part was getting the wires out of the holders. but i finally got so mad that i jammed my small screwdriver in there and whadoyaknow ... it worked.

So here's what it does when you rotate the exterior lights stalk:

*off* -- duh!
*position 1* -- ONLY headlights come on
*position 2* -- headlights, taillights, and license plate lights come on as well as guage lights and dash lights.
*flick for high beam* -- same as position 2 EXCEPT headlights are brighter and ... the bad part ... dash lights and gauge lights turn off. oh well. . . .

but now the turn signal lights WILL NOT activate unless for signaling or for flashing the hazards. Looks pretty cool, IMO.
