Have you even diagnosed the problem? Check to even see what the code is? If anything it could be an easy fix. Find out what the code is first before you start doing anything else. Which could possibly worsen the problem.

or you could just remove the bulb from the cluster.

Autozone will scan it for free, and if some old woman hasn't complained abotu that business "fixing" the car (by turning the light off), then they might still be willing to clear your light too.
Yes, that really happened too. People have this idea that if the light is off, the problem is fixed.

If your trying to pass smog by disabling the light forget it. One of the pass requirements is that the light come on and then turn off. If it doesn't their going to think your disabled the light or the car has some sort of issue.

if done well they will have no way to know that it's bypassed.
You fool the ECU into thinking that nothing is wrong, so it will report that nothing is wrong.
