Default Posibly Eltrical Short?

Well theirs 2 crazy things that confuse me here lately. First one is that my speed0meter started to freak out and finally for a entire day it didn't work, So the next day I'm cruising down the highway and wonder if my cruise control still works so i click the cruise control button and the dam speedometer starts working perfect. I click it again and it goes to 0mph after wigging out for a second.

Also Second problem, I have the fan switch that goes on the thermostat on with a pin connecting both of them so the cooling fan comes on as soon as the car comes on and stays on. well this morning i woke up to a dam dead battery. i checked everything nothing was left on.

So, I jump start it and the first thing i noticed is that when i connected the 2 jumper cables to the battery is that the Cooling fan came on without my key being in the ignition. So that's crazy. so the rest of today when i went into places i popped my hood and disconnected the cooling fan and when i come back i connect it again. Well it stopped coming on without the key when i got home. so now its connected but doesn't turn on until i turn the ignition key.

Whats wrong?

Holy crap man, your electrical system sounds Frankenstein'd

...I'm clueless. I'd retrace your steps if you were the one who has made mods to the electrical system...

the only mod is the cooling fan method.

I think you may have two separate problems:

1) Maybe a loose VSS connector or it has corroded/damaged terminals

2) A faulty ignition switch

VSS = vehicle speed sensor (sits on top of the transmission).

Inspect the connector for the VSS.

Ya, I'm pretty sure water and rust is in their cause it was siting at the shop with no hood no engine or tranny and water got onto it. ill clean it with wd 40 tomorrow.

But the coolant fan is just weird, what would cause it to even get power with no key?

I think the problem is the driver. the dam fan switch is only like 20 bucks, come on man dont be so cheap.

Check the ignition switch. Continuity tests are described in the service manual.

Well you don't know my case. I do not have a sensor period. the JDM Block came with only the housing of the thermostat and didn't have the sensor on the housing like my old engine. So You And your Slow *** GSR can suck my Single cams .....

Well last night i parked my car and i checked if the fan was on or off when i took the key out the ignition and it was off so i left it connected. this morning i woke up to a semi dead battery. it had only a little power. enough to slightly turn the engine and stop.

What is going on?

Well despite your ignorance, i will still help you. The first thing you need to do is get a multimeter that has amps on it. disconnect the negative side of the battery and put the multimeter in between it. red lead on neg side of battery and black lead on neg side cable. then switch it over to amps. at this point you should be able to see how many amps are being drawn off the battery while it is sitting. anything over .2 or 2ma is considered excessive. lets say you see like 1.5amps being drawn off the battery then you can go to the fuse box and take out 1 fuse at a time until your amperage drops off, once that happens then you have narrowed your problem down to a circuit then get a wiring diagram for that circuit and find out everything that is on it you can go to each device and unplug it and narrow it down even more. once you get it down below .2 amps then you shouldn't have anymore draining problems and as far as your thermostat housing goes, it can be replaced and is still not a good enough reason to be driving around with the fan running all the time keeping the motor from actually warming up and getting into closed loop. either way i don't really care but I am trying to promote non-ghetto repairs and getting crap done the right way the first time and not just throwing parts at something until it fixes the problem. either way GL with your problem and I will still check back to see if you need any more help and it cant really be single if you put a S on the back side of cam!

Well, i had a bad battery i went and got a new Duralast red top for $20 from autozone. my friend got it for me. and i changed the thermostat housings out today with the original d16z6 one. and now the fan works when it gets hot.

So, Ill find out in the morning if it starts or not if i have something draining power.
