Default Pop Pop Exhaust

I just got a apexi n1 universal muffler. I had a local shop install 2.25 piping from the cat back and a resonator. But when I get out of my car or even when its running, sumwhere under the car comming from the piping is like poping lots it really hot. What could be causeing this, never happend till i got the exhaust on. Its really annoying and when I park everyone looks over at my car like its gona blow up.

Are you saying it's normal wit all exhausts or just custom welded jobs?? I might have to go drive my car around and see if mine does it now!! I've never noticed it if it does!

Yeah I love that...when you get off of the gas and hear the exhaust popping. That is by far my favorite part about an exhaust.

It might just be the piping breaking in or whatever. I had a different shop do piping to a muffler on my EG and it never made this sound. Its not so much a pop but like when vetts and some cars get off the autocross course on a hot day. It sounds like rocks are kicking at the car. But its comming from the piping.

i agree that it is probably just the piping breaking itself in

at first new piping smells like burnt pop-tarts lol

What kind of metal did they use in the piping? Alumalite is what's used in most shops unless you asked for stainless steel. If they used stainless it does not absorb heat like the alumalite and will make noise as it cools. Now if it's pop during driving it's the glass in the resonator melting or breaking in.

My old N1 set up used to do the same thing. If I was cruising at about 4k, and I quickly tapped the gas just barely a few times it would pop a couple of times, my friends always got a kick out of it, cause sometimes it was really loud

i believe this is caused by the exhaust cooling unevenly, nothing to worry about. someone prove me wrong.

My apex'i World sport smelled like marshmallows, I was in love from day 1.

My buddies exhaust on his VW does the same thing, no leaks and it is a high quality exhaust, can't remember what brand, but it cost him an arm and a leg.

I believe it is a normal thing on all free-flowing exhausts. I see you have 2.5" piping and good flowing muffler. My car does it too.

Yeah I've got a Tsudo axle-back. It occassionally makes the popping noise. I like to think of it as my car farting.

It's normal. The N1 on our RSX does it all the time, and the WS on our 91 hatch will randomly do it.

Glad to hear that popping is normal. For so long I thought my car was slightly misfiring.

Its not like a misfire tho. I guess it happends all the time, cause when I was in the drive threw at taco bell i noticed it at idle. It sounds like someone is laying under my car hitting a wrench or metal piece against the exhaust piping. It does it all the time and everytime.
