pop off steering wheel
ha anyone used one of those steering wheel adapters that allows your steering wheel to pop off? the anti theft ones.
i am thinking of getting one, search brought up nothing.
easy to install. and is it true that you have to use aftermarket wheels with them too?

Re: pop off steering wheel (ridiculous)
called like a detachable hub or something, it's made so that it only fits the steering wheel u put it on. i'm pretty sure u gotta use an aftermarket wheel too.

Re: pop off steering wheel (SOUNDEFFECTS)
I'll let you know as soon as I install it (probably this weekend). I just bought it off of this site called tekniq and there setup looks pretty cool. I guess their snap off system is as different as a key so someone else coudn't use another steering wheel with your hub.
Here's their site: http://www.tekniqauto.com

Re: pop off steering wheel (allmtr)
I believe the Signal one is around $280 or for it.
Migs- is the Signal hub a locking one, since I heard some of the race ones aren't locking I was just curious. And how do you like that Mugen wheel?

i have a FET Sports quick release spacer.... it is pretty cool, and different than those other types that use ball bearings....anyways...mine has a little bit of slop...not much, but i think it is created due to the design of the quick release...anyways, i like it and it is easy to use, and i am pretty confident with it, meaning that i trust it, as it doesn't feel as if it would fail.

Re: pop off steering wheel (ridiculous)
they are cool - i guess it could be a good anti theft device when parked.
but my friend as a land rover defender 90 soft top.. so he bought one and i put it in. i see it more use for like jeeps and such, or convertables. but i guess every exctra anti theft device works!
my friend has a sparco wheel.

Re: pop off steering wheel (h00kup)
My friends pick up quick release hubs and spacers from here:
http://www.ltbmotorsport.com/dilquicrelhu.html
They have momo hubs, but the quick release hub is not momo. Not momo,
but it gets the job done. Its a bitch to carry around a steering wheel though.
Definitely worth my time if it prevents car from getting stolen.

Re: pop off steering wheel (ridiculous)
I just recently installed a Tekniq Snap-Off system. Installation was pretty simple, just be careful with the handling of the air bag. Steering wheel feels great, I have no problems what so ever with it. Great for anti-theft deterant. Highly recommended it.

didn't think you would care much about PEACE OF MIND when you removed your airbag!
I think people that remove the airbag for the cool steering wheels are nuts. it can't be worth risking your life over! Would you take out your safety belt to reduce weight and "look cool"?!!
Sorry about that, just venting!

IDEA: cool racing type steering wheel that some how maintains airbag... hmmm.

Re: pop off steering wheel (Sketch_hs)
Well many people actually road race and get these wheels for performance reasons (handling, weight reduction). Also in many racing classes, air bags are not permitted. I only auto-x so its not that big of a deal, but I would like to lose some weight and get a better feeling steering wheel. That and my paint job draws enough attention, another way to deter theives is a quick release.
