Unless you just coined this phrase today .... then it might lead you to believe people have done it before .... you know ... since it has a name.

Yeah, I know what one looks like, friend had one in his hatch before he blew it sky-high (threw a rod on the freeway)
It's just amusing when people are like "Hey, has anyone ever made a banana split?" As if nobody ever had....

Nope. You'll be the first ever. Tell us how it goes.

I'm pretty sure it looks like a B18C.
Yep. Looks like a B18C. Definitely doesn't look like a D15A or an LS1 or anything else.

LOL.
Yeah I am in process of putting one together.
B18C1 block
B16A PR3 Head
ITR Cams, valvetrain, IM and 64 mm TB
Moroso Oil pan
Y21 LSD tranny
AEM adj cam gears and the rest is for me to know.
Search this as B18C1 block B16 Head and you will be surprised at the results you get.
About 2500.00 cheaper piecing together than buying a GSR or Type R Swap.

So where did you pick all that stuff up for $600? Because you can pick up a complete B18C1 swap (or the JDM equivalent) for about $3100 . . .

Re: poor man type r (Targa250R)
I think a poor man's type R is the way to go if you have a 99-00 Si Like I do. All you really need is the short block.. you can use the b16 timing belt and pumps right? I'm going to do this in spring hopefully if not a b20 VTEC... I'm just worried about the Rod-stroke ratio being so low on both motors..

Re: poor man type r (egsleepercivic)
I got a complete B16 conversion for 800.00
engine/tranny axles knuckles shift linkage wire harness motor mounts and more stuff from a friend of mine parting out his car and got anxious to get money. I have all paperwork for it. After selling everything I ended up paying like 250.00 for what I needed.
Well sold the tranny and bought an lsd hydro. Sold all pieces that I didn't need since this was an ef setup and bought linkage and stuff needed for my swap.
Bought type R cams for 250 valvetrain for 125 Intake manifold/Throttle Body 150 all Type R
So I have just under 1000 with b16 long block and everything else basically R stuff. That includes mounts i needed, linkage out of 00 si, wire harness out of 93 ex/si.
Well now I can buy a perfectly good ready to use stock block b18c from 2 or 3 different people for around 600.00 and if I sell my B16 block for anywhere close to that well there you go PMTR for under 2000.00

Re: poor man type r (sauceja)
You're missing the pistons. A PR3 head with USDM P72 pistons will have a 9.8:1 static compression ratio. The USDM ITR ratio is 10.8:1 for reference.

I believe that it only if you put those pistons in a B16 not if you are using a B18c1 block with a b16 head. The b16 head is the same cast as the ITR Head just with less porting done to it.

Yep got it covered. Going turbo so the .2 compression drop is much needed for added boost.

The PR3 head has 1.1cc larger combustion chambers, and thus will lower the compression when used in place of the P72 head. The B16A, B16B, and B18C Spec-R have large piston domes to make up for this, but USDM P72 pistons do not. As a side note, JDM P72 pistons have a slight dome, but still not as large as those found on B16A/B and B18C Spec-R pistons.

Cool. Depending on what head gasket you use, you could tweak it slightly if you wanted to. Good luck.

Re: poor man type r (Targa250R)
Thinking the cometic .054 should do justice. Until I can blow it up from overboosting to warrant a rebuild anyway.
Have a moroso 5 quart baffled pan and some extras for this as well. Want to tune it all motor with stock HG first to have some fun until this winters down time and have a turboed setup for the haters in the spring.
