a poor civic hatch owner needing advice
i bought a 96 hatch a few years ago with intentions of a b18 motor swap. well, it was a lot harder to raise $2500 than i thought it would be, so i never ended up getting it. now i am 23 years old and even though i did have $2500, i couldn't spend it on a motor because there are just too many things i would put on top of a motor on my priority list. nevertheless, i still love my hatch, but i will admit that its FUQIN slow yo.
but is it worth it to slap on a mediocre exhaust and an intake on there for a small speed increase? and would a turbo on the 1.6 motor be much more work to maintain than its actually worth? my friends have these parts lying around there garages and would probably sell them to me for close to nothing, but i can't decide on whether to keep my car clean and stock, or start slappin things on it. i also think i would feel embarrassed if i had this load *** car with 116hp or a bov coming from a puny 1.6 motor. any suggestions?

You're in California. Make sure everything you do isn't going to get you in trouble, especially if you're not decided yet on whether to mod or not.
Just be aware of all the hassles from police, etc that can occur before you do anything.
