You must've got a bad set. That's rediculous. I have a set of Tokico Illuminas (granted they're not Blues). My car is lowered 3.5" and I've been on them for over a year with no problems. Tokico shocks are very good and well designed and should last much longer than 6 months.

They are an oem replacement, they are not meant for lowerd cars. They will blow.

I disagree. A good friend of mine has been riding on Blues for a little over two years. His car isn't 'dumped' like some, but his shocks have held up very well for these two years.

Mine is lowered ~ 2.5", on blues for about four years with no problems

I have some KYB AGX with Skunk2 C/O. Have it lowered about 2-2.5 and have had them for 3-4 years on the stiffest setting with no problems. It bounces, but not the kind of bounce you see on ghetto lowriders with the springs cut or torched.

not trying to steal thread, buuut
in the spring like aprilish.. I plan on dropping my civic 4 inches on just some cheap egay coilovers ( dont flame ) Itll probably dumped 4 inches every great while.. but on average like a 2.5ish drop
I will be totally done with this car july 2nd. Think my stock struts / shocks will hold up?

Re: Poll of the hour: Will My shocks/struts blow??? (CodyC142)
There is nothing wrong with Tokico Blues, I have a friend that has Drop Zone coilovers and he has the blues on his car, its lowered about 3" with the coils and he's been riding around like that for two years and no problems with blown shocks. Personally I like KYB AGX's since they are a decent price and adjustable, but then again I lower with springs since I've always had bad luck with coilovers and I don't like the whole SLAMMED look since potholes will ruin your day out here and the fact that I have a slanted driveway will rip off a lip in no time.
Good luck with whatever you plan on doing. I'd suggest either KYB AGX's or Tokico Illuminas/HPs(blues).

Not only on the road conditions, but also on how much you daily drive it. Honestly, it should last you well over a year, in normal city roads and normal use (30-35k miles a year)

it depends on the springrates, stock shocks or stock replacements aren't valved to handle higher springrates than stock, so they will blow prematurely, and lowering with sleeve coilovers will reduce the amount of shock travel, so you could be riding blown shocks and not even know it, because the springs handle all of the bumps in the road without transferring the load to the dampers
i recently took off weapon R sleeve coils and kyb gr2's and they were so blown that you could push the damper down to the spring and it wouldn't rebound

What the **** kinda question is this?
EVERYTHING depending on that is a variable.
From your driving, to how fast you take turns, to how the road is, to how the co-efficient of friction on the road is due to wetness/dryness.
That's probably the vaguest question I've seen in awhile.
That's like asking how much longer will my car last?
