Re: polishing the block...? (egracer415)
I don't think so...but why in gods name would you try this?? I don't even think you're going to be able to do this, but if you could, it would make tracking down an oil leak failry easy. Oh yeah, how do you plan on keeping this clean???

Why the hell would you want to hold in heat?

my best friend polished the intake manifold, valve cover, head, block, tranny, all mounts, and anything else metal under the hood. it definitely didn't hurt anything. what he did was totally clean everything, polished all he could, then sprayed some aluminum paint on it. it turned out looking incredible. hope you can see it from his shaky-*** pics:

Re: (slvrcivic97)
Here is a better one, sorry.
In retrospect, i don't think i would paint a block again. That one was already really clean, really the only reason i painted it, because i knew that the paint would adhere really well to the sterile metal.
Never really had any heat issues, although the motor was pulled in april and really hasn't been driven since.

yes, this is brian's (Plan B on here) engine. it is a 12.5:1 compression B18C1 running on pump gas. he's had absolutely no problems with heat issues, and he's even running a half-*** (i mean half-length) stock civic radiator. this would lead me to believe that there are no problems caused by doing this.

Re: polishing the block...? (egracer415)
also the last time the turd had paint on it.
I wonder what happened to that car, the rods, head, transmission and clutch were all still really good.
I wonder if somebody bought the swap, put it in their civic, and then said, "there is oil squirting out of my oil pan and my car slows down when it hits vtec."
