Any pointless officers, all laws are there for a reason!!! But the officers that enforced the laws can be morons and use their own judgent, which is often wrong!!! Then you loose your time in court, waste tax payers money and win????

I love cops in general, I'd say, 90% of them are fair and understandable, but the other 10% are the one that give cops a bad name!!!

Uhh, the window tint laws do have a purpose - so the cops can see if you have a gun in the car, or contraband in the car when its parked.

You may not like it, but it does have a purpose.

Then why is window tint legal on New vehicles from a dealer, but you can't tint your car if it didn't come with it stock?

Fortunately, it seems you have no contact with criminals. They're stupid - incredibly stupid.

It does make a difference. Ask any policeman. They're all anti-tint. It's because tint can sometimes mean the difference between them going home to their wives or going to the morgue in a bodybag.

We don't think about these things, but they're a lot nastier things that go on in the world.

Incidentally, I have tint, but legal tint. I would, of course have rather gotten darker, but I understand the problem.

That's the mildest tint available (from the factory). Is ALL aftermarket tint illegal in NY? I might understand that being stupid.

Front plates. How many times do cops need to see the front plate? If they are going to pull you over, they generally need to be behind your car, and they should have no trouble seeing your plate from that angle.

I guess the argument could be made the front plate number could be used to help pic your car out of a group...but if they are looking for you that hard you must have done something pretty bad, and they will look closely at anything matching your cars description.

Emission laws. Why do only some areas have them...and some dont? Sure, pollution may be worse in other areas, but the cleaner counties should still have to live up to the same standards as everyone else.

Also...why can't we get hobbyist plates for our cars? Vehicles that are 20 years or older can...which means no emissions testing for them. Many of our cars are also hobbyist vehicles. Why can't we get those plates? Just because our cars are less then 20 years old shouldn't deny us the same rights....

Huh...you saying factory tint isn't dark? Look at all the minivans and SUVs driving around with factory tint. It has to be 20% or darker. In wisconsin the only after market tint that is legal is 50% and lighter. You can barley see 50% tint.

Overall I pretty much belive in the EVEN application, AND enforcement of the law.

If a Harley motor cycle can have a 100+ Db exhuast...it should be ok on my car.
If a factory car can have 20% tint...it should be legal on my car.

Problem is either the law is fucked, or the officers enforcing the law don't do so fairly.

I could take a h22a civic with 5 turbo's and 2 bottles of the blue stuff, tune it real nice and then pass the tailpipe with Ultra low emmisions. Then they will say no you cant pass because of visual inspection.

So it would almost be as silly as not letting your car pass because its to YELLOW right?

I know there is some logic behind it, leven tho you are passing now when you boost those 5 turbo's you will be creating alot of emmisions. But Im sure an LS1 at WOT isnt going to pass emmisions either. I just things its gay

If it comes clean out the pipe it should pass plain and simple, Damn I hate CA but wouldnt leave it for anything

Agree with you 100%!!

If you have clean stuff coming out of your tail pipe...it shouldn't matter whats in your car. Who cares if it isn't OBD2 anymore and is run by a standalone. Clean is clean...the enviroment won't know the difference.

Just one time that it could have been useful is enough to generate a law. That's how it happens.

The cost of enforcing them. The laws are passed to exclusively work on the problem areas only. Instituting blanket emissions laws costs the taxpayers too much.

The hobbyist (or antique) plates are exclusions from regular laws, not the other way around.

There is no "right" to own or drive a vehicle on public roads, and this is where the ability to regulate enters into the picture.
