Default PO8 ECU drivability question

I have a 95 coupe with a JDM D15B swap, and my chipped p28 died on me. By luck someone in my area had/sold me an actual pO8 ecu as he has the same car and swap, but went boost. Anyways, first time driving the car with the pO8, it has a flat spot causing the car to buck once around 2500rpm. So I tried to get it to buck again in the same spot, but then it never happened again on the initial test drive..

Do new ECU's need to be driven, or need to learn certain engine parameters?

Any insite appreciated.
