No, the random average guy would call it a Civic coupe.

AS long as they don't add the number its fine. EG/EK/EF is just a liquidation of the main chassis codes of the gens.
When someone calls their 99 DX coupe a EK9, their CRX DX a EF8, or their 94 DX hatch a EG6...then you might need to bring out the whip.</TD></TR></TABLE>
I DO NOT go around correcting people about their chassis codes.

I DID NOT talk **** about you. I said most people who call them all "EKs" either don't know any better or appear to not know any better. I stand by that.

Coupe all the way!!! Don't get a gaint egg!!! coupes are better 2 me cuz when its time to use the back seats I got lots off room to move around.. And then u can throw an si wing on it to make it look even better.... the gaint egg is only lighter than the coupe.... its the motor that's gonna be doing al the work.. Not the frame so go with coupe son!

There is no such thing as an "Si wing". All '99-'00 coupe wings are the same and all '96-'98 coupe wings are the same (save for color). The closest to an "Si wing" that you'll get is a '99-'00 wing that came stock in Electron Blue Pearl. Since part numbers of some accessories depend on colors, that is the only one you'll only find listed as only an Si item.
And the coupe and hatch back seats are the same size. The coupes with moonroofs have less headroom than the coupes or hatches without moonroofs.

Re: PLS HELP! CIVIC COUPE OR HATCH.. WHICH ONE IS BETTER? (EK tommy)
ive had both... honestly to each his own depends on what you use it most for....loved my coupe because it was sexy, felt like it was more private than the hatch, could put alot of **** in the trunk and not have to worry about it. The hatch doesnt seem to have much privacy, i feel like a fish in a bowl... but i can fit my bike, drums, wheels w/e i need for transporting... and its a fun little DD... i would buy both, but im not really into hondas anymore. so theres my .02 cents

Not really as much as everyone thinks. Especially if you compare a DX vs. a DX.
1996 Honda Civic DX HB MT 2242
1996 Honda Civic DX CPE MT 2262
1997 Honda Civic DX HB MT 2319
1997 Honda Civic DX CPE MT 2337
1998 Honda Civic DX HB MT 2339
1998 Honda Civic DX CPE MT 2342
1999 Honda Civic DX HB MT 2388
1999 Honda Civic DX CPE MT 2359
2000 Honda Civic DX HB MT 2388
2000 Honda Civic DX CPE MT 2359
Now if you compare a CX to an EX, yes, there is a considerable difference.
1996 Honda Civic CX HB MT 2222
1996 Honda Civic EX CPE MT 2483
The one thing that gives the coupes an advantage IMO is the rear speaker deck. It doesn't need reinforcement like a c-pillar bar because the rear is already tied together via the rear speaker deck.

Re: PLS HELP! CIVIC COUPE OR HATCH.. WHICH ONE IS BETTER? (I heart my Honda.)
Good info... based on that the whole weight argument can't be brought up unless you are comparing a CX to EX like you said.
20lbs is nothing really. Thats something the driver can lose or make up for with a better built engine.

Yeah, like I said before... 200 pounds difference between my '98 EX coupe (stock) and my boyfriend's '97 CX hatch (stock). It's really not that much. And hell, I'm adding weight to it whenever I can too.

Do it in the front seat. Seriously, it's easier. Unless she's a big girl (i.e., "fattie") and/or you're a big guy (in the same sense), it won't be a problem.
And you definitely DO NOT have more space in the coupe. It's all the same, except coupes with moonroofs have less headroom.
