Default please help..tach. problem

ok no one yell at me for this, its probably pretty stupid but i am knew to this whole honda thing. so i just bought a 96 civic that has a b16 swap but the speedo and tachometer don't work..is it a fuse or wiring problem or what? i was also wondering if anyone in San Bern. or I.E. might know where i can take this car if i want all of the crappy wiring job fixed and cleaned up.any help is appreciated thanks

possibly the VSS or Vehicle Speed Sensor not working if the Speed Gauge and Mile indicator doesn't work.

well considering your saying that its a hack job, its probably the wiring...im not from cali but im sure someone will chime in with a reputable shop in your area that you can take it to..... that sucks to get a b16 swapped civic and have no vtec

i really dont get vtec if its throwing an engine light or any code?

It depends on the code that is thrown. Your check engine light can be on and VTEC will still work. Just depends on the issue.

EDIT: Is VTEC working or not? I didn't see you say anything about it, I just assumed because someone mentioned something about it.

The VSS code is being thrown, so vtec won't work if its thrown

what is the VSS code? and i tried to pull my codes, but i suck a wire in the plug and turned the key and nothing happend the engine light just stayed on.
