Please Help! - Stranded
Hey everyone.
I appreciate all of your help.
1993 Civic DX - Stock D15B7
I was driving from the city I live in to visit my girlfriend in another city. I'd be driving along and the car would be running great. All of a sudden it just quits. Lights and everything stay on, but everything dies. I can put it in 2nd while I'm rolling and nothing starts up, it just moans. I pull it over to the side of the road...wait a few minutes...then it starts up again. I can go a while longer, then it quits again. I have a hunch of what it is, but you guys are the experts. Please help me. I can take it in to Honda here in the city on Monday, but if I can verify my suspision, I will just get the part I need and install it myself.
A while ago it was doing the same thing and it ended up being the ignition control module in the distributor. Having worked at a Jobber store, the whole distributor didn't cost me much. In my research of this problem, it came to my attention that a relay under the dash heats up and shuts off and kills everything, then once it cools down it's fine.
Please let me know.
I greatly appreciate all of your help.

Re: Please Help! - Stranded
it could be your main relay though normally it does not restart when it is warm. but worth a try. could also be your ignition switch not your ignition control module. i'm talking about the ignition switch where you put your keys into to start the car.

OP: When the engine won't start, listen for whether the fuel pump primes and whether there is spark at the plugs. Also check for CEL codes. This information will help pinpoint the problem and tell you what needs to be replaced.
