PLEASE HELP ME.... my only car is down!!!!!
ok so here are the symtoms.:
I was driving and the car jerked once then imediately cut off.
tried to start the car and a puff of white / grey smoke came out of the intake( not too sure what color. it was dark).
the car cranks but just does not turn over, all lights radio and alarm work fine.
the fuel pressure is good, battery terminals ground wires, distributer cap and rotor, spark plugs, wires and fuses.
this is my only car so i need to get it running as soon as possible. the car is a 2000 Si. oh yeah i have been searching for this fro the last 3 days and bumming a ride to work is getting old. your help is greatly appreciated.

sounds like u may have jumped a tooth on your timing belt, backfiring thru the intake is a sure sign your timing is off. bring the #1 piston to top dead center of the compression stroke. its the one closes to the belts, then look at the cam gears make sure they both line up and both have "up" pointing UP!

Re: (angel_i)
its got about 98,000 on it but the timing belt was changed when i put in the AEM cam gears. i took th valve cover off just to make sure the timing belt was still there.

check the cam gear bolts. maybe they slipped? idno. but backfiring thru the intake, and the sudden **** down of your motor sounds like a timing belt issue to me. check the distributor. make sure its not loose. but it would still run even if it moved side to side.
