Please help..car doesn't want to start
While driving home my car started to bog. Before I could pull over it cut off on me. I tried to start it back, no luck. Opened the hood, found a distibutor wires came off..(number 1). Put it back in tried to start, same ****. Checked fuses, battery is good, starter is good. What could be the problem? Also I was low on gas and I had my friend bring me some..same ****. Could someone help me out here. Also in what order do you put the sparkplug wires. Thanks.

cmon now...possibly a bad dizzy, relay??? Would a bad dizzy (ignitor) cause it to bog and then cut off? It doesn't want to start, IT turns though. I'm dying here.

If you ran out of fuel, check the fuel filter, gunk might have come up from the bottom of the tank. Change that out and run some SeaFoam or other fuel system cleaner through it. If that doesn't improve it, check for spark in each cylinder. Or at night time try cranking the engine and have a friend look under the hood to see if there is any arcs comming from the plug wires that could cause no starting. Hope this helps, good luck!

No I didnt run out on fuel, it was just low...like close to empty. How would I change the fuel filter anyway? If I don't get spark is it the distributor? Thanks for the help.

if u dont get in spark. yes its some wherew in the ignition. but theres also a possibility you might have broke ur timeing belt take off the top cover by the valve cover and look. if thats not the problem then check ur ignitor, coil, dizzy cap &ROTOR> and even ur spark plugs!

take the dizzy cap off and see if rotor button turns when you crank engine. you might have broke a timing belt.

Fuel filter almost definitely is not your problem. To change it, unscrew the service bolt on top of the fuel filter to relieve fuel pressure (small bolt). Then you need to use a pipe wrench to remove the bolt on the underside of the filter (can be a real bitch). Take off the large bolt on top. Then pull the fuel filter out of the bracket. Dump old dirty fuel into your hand to see how dirty it all was if you want. I'm just going off the top of my head. I'm sure there's a better description in your manual
