you should have adjst them off the car.
put a jak under the control arm and take out the bolt on the bottom of the fork. then lower the jack. then you can take them off or adjust them becuase of less pressure.

Just jack the car up from one of the lift points on the car so there is no pressure on the suspension. You should be able to adjust it then. Try shooting the threads with some WD40. Loosen the bottom nut (on the sleeve) with your spanner wrenches then adjust the top nut to your desired ride height. Then tighten to bottom nut to the top nut.

Sorry guys I didn't specify. The car was lifted on a jack. I squirt it with some wd40 and it did the trick. Thanks!
