Please Help A/C question
Alright guys so I'm not sure if I'm posting in the correct section or not. I have a 98 civic coupe with a GSR swap in it and I just recently started to put the a/c parts into my car. I used civic everything but the b20 bracket and everything seems to fit correctly...
okay on to the problem, The ac clutch is not activating, so I check for power in the single wire clip that goes to it and it is acting as a ground, I'm not sure if there is supposed to be power going to that red wire or not... second when the car is turned off the ground wire that I have grounded to the frame of the car for the ac is cool, but when I turn on the car the end of it where it touches the frame gets super hot (and no it is not the heat from the motor because the motor has not even gotten hot yet)... I checked the ecu and the power coming for it using the honda manual and everything seems good, so if any of this makes sense lol can somebody please give me their best effort in helping me i would really appreciate it. Thanks

Re: Please Help A/C question
The red wire to the A/C compressor clutch is the power/voltage wire, it is not suppose to act as a ground. Unplug the connector to the compressor clutch and see if the ground wire you attached to the car frame/body still gets hot when the car is on.

Re: Please Help A/C question
yes even with it unplugged it still gets hot

Re: Please Help A/C question
If you're not grounding the car at the normal connection points, it may be due to how you're grounding the car.
1. Is Ground G101 wiring connected to the thermostat housing?
2. Was the battery ground cable firmly connected to the car body?

Re: Please Help A/C question
yes both of those are correct. now I just tested the ground that is getting hot with a test light and when I do, it is sparking. do you think the red wire and this ground are somehow crossed?

Re: Please Help A/C question
1. Disconnect the battery first. Then disconnect the ground cable that gets hot.
2. Where is the ground that is getting hot? Can you post a picture? For now as a new user, you might have to upload to some site like photobucket, etc. and link the picture.
3. You can also start pulling fuses that supply power/voltage to components that share the ground source that gets hot, to try to isolate where a short may be.
