Default Please Help!!! Brake Question!!!!!!!!!

I was changing the rear brake shoes on my 95 cx hatch....and the wheel cylinder opened up for some reason and leaked out fluid everywhere.

Now i know i need to clean the shoes...but do i need a new cylinder now as well????

Thanks.

Did the seal on one of the pistons come loose, or is it just leaking? If it just came loose, just pop it back on there...or you could hone the cylinder and stuff while you're in there too. If that seal is busted or cracked, you might as well get a new one...rebuild kits are almost impossible to find anymore, and even then cost near what a new cylinder would cost anyways.

How did it open up? Did one of the boots come off of the end or did the piston pop out?

Edit: Slow typing owns me... same questions as above

clean them off, put them back in... You probably just pushed on one side, but not the other... if it looks like it's in good condition you should be ok

yeah, in general, if fluid comes out, air can get in, so bleed to be safe
