plastigage...
So i plastigaged my main bearings and i got all across .051 mm with my ACL race bearings. Think this is enough clearance??

I just looked up the specs for a 95 gsr and it says that the main bearing clearance should be 0.024-0.042 and is considerd excessive at 0.050 also says that #3 journal should be .030-.048 and is excessive at .060. Dont ask me why the #3 is diffrent but that is what it says. I already knew that was kind of excessive, hondas last so long because of there very small bearing clearances. but if using plastigauge I would make sure that you are getting a good torque on the main caps. remember you should always use 30w oil to lube the threads to ensure proper torque spec, even arp will confirm that. good luck.

yea #3's are always looser. i forgot the reason, something to do with honda cranks. but this guy is right^ your clearances are too much. double chck your tourquing procedure.
did you get the block line bored or honed on the main caps? might have to step up the main bearings

did you get the crank polished at all? mic the crank if your not sure. sounds like you might need to go with some oversided bearings

hrmmm.. Well didnt mirco polish the crank but i did glazed hone my sleeves. So thats too much clearance??? What will happen if i just do like that?

i dont know try it, all i can say is that honda tells you what to make your tollerances. you want to change things thats your deal, i wouldnt run that loose of a tollerance though i can tell you that.

the sleeves it self dont have anything to do with the rod journals but with excessive bearing clearnces you can only expect short engine life, future rod knock, and possibly spun bearings. specially when building a motor for power or stock for that matter you need to stick to the oem specs unless otherwise told by rod or crank aftermarket manufactures.

think of it this way.. the main bearins control oil pressure... the larger the gap.. the lower the pressure.. low oil pressure isnt good.. go with oem honda bearings.. ACL standard sized are close to Honda green bearings.. use the next size up.. i dont remember which is the correct color, use the search feature to bearing clearances..
