Pistons in a stock D16z6,what works?? PM7's,PG6B's,P29's etc (already searched)
I went to the junkyard and i got pistons from a 1st gen integ, but i just noticed right now after taking off all the carbon build up that they are pm7's (i wanted to get p29's). I was told that these pistons are a diff valve angle then the engine i was going to use (d16z6). What i basically want to do is swap the d16z6 orig. pistons and replace them with a set that will bump my compression. I dont know what to go with now because i was told the pm7's are a diff angle, and i dont know if either pg6b's or p29's will do the work or maybe even the pm7's that i have now. I have looked up the differnt specs on various compression calculators, but i doubt they are accurate so now i dont know what to do/go with. If anyone can help me out with any input it will help

I don't know the specific answers to your questions...
BUT...
I started this thread a while back...
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=484381
Basically all I could find out is that the GX's had rods that are simlar to the LS rods but fit the D series cranks... and the GX pistons are 12.5:1 compression... not sure what it works out to in a different block but there is a compression calculator out there on the net.
and I'm SURE if you search you'll find some answers...
Also user "AzCivic" I believe has a good deal of knowledge on this subject matter... he may chime in... I'll try to get his attention to this post... if not him it may be another member of hstuners.com that has a lot of this info...
Here's little more help for ya...

DAMN... I'm TOO good at this...
5 minutes of google later...

good info here!! https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=400841

This was one of my builds.
There;s lots of mis information. Tom states that the valve reliefs are different from the p29 pistons and won't work with a Z6 head.
I clay'd the clearances and they were still within safe distance and the valves were inline with the reliefs
My next build will be PM6 pistons

Hey, I just got your PM, but my old school Netscape Navigator at work doesn't work well with the new HT, so PM feature doesn't work
Anyways.... setup ran great. Fired up first crank, seated the rings in, and started driving. About 2 hours of driving around, breaking everything in, my shift forks in my tranny blew up on me ....lol. But I only drove with that block for about 2 weeks, and then swapped everything back over to my original block. I ran out of money for tuning and management, and I had to pull too much timing for the daily for it to not ping, and it did no matter what.
But it was very rev happy and had great throtle rsponse. At idle, my ignition timing was at 2 degrees BTDC!!! Which is 14 retarded, and it still was quicker than my stock Z6. I wish I had the funds to tune it in and get it up to full potential, but money was the limiting factor.
I went Uberdata yesterday- and am building yet another engine....this one just a Z6 with PM6 pistons (d16A6), little head work, and maybe a Skunk 2 cam. Just want a nice clean setup and put down 115 wtq and hopefully 145-150 wheel, depending on my head work.
Since that setup, I went back to stock Z6, B16, Apexi Z6, now stock Z6, and just waiting on a few bucks to get my block finished...just need to have it bored.
I sold the p29 pistons and the shot peened rods to someone on HT, and that block with some PM6 pistons, is going to be in the new c-speedracing.com's road race EG. It's been sitting in my garage for many months now

Re: (Emerika)
coo coo, thanks again Emer for giving me the heads up with the p29's i guess i am going to have to dump that idea becasue of drivabuility issues and 91 gas with close to 13.1 comp . I am going to have to try get get some pm6's, but if i cant find any i am going to have to settle with pg6b's, a littler lower compression then the p29's/pm7's...so we will see what happends
