viatra pistons knock they are hype, just as the p29 high comp ones are, go get your y8 block sleeved, have you ever built a motor?

I agree the only reason people like vitaras is because they are cheap asses and don't want to fork out the dough for a real forged pistion. I'm sure the swirl ports on a y8 head would negate some of the knocking that some people have had issues with.

Just get some oversized Y5 Honda pistons for High comp. or some Z6 for low comp. Either way I'd stick with stock pistons.

Vitaras are loud, but only because of the huge clearance. Honda motors call for a clearance of around .02. My vitaras are at .08! So of course they are gonna be louder than a forged or stock piston. You cant confuse their loudness for a knock.

That's my understanding from everyone which is why I bought the 76mm version. I'll be sleeving my block, but figured that I'd try the Vitara's out & if they don't work well for my needs I'll just go bigger. It will be sleeved I have the flexibility to go way OS if needed. For their price, they seem like you can't go wrong based on all of the info on d-series, td16, here, etc.

the vTT setup has proven reliable...so you dont have to worry but he is right...even if you throw a rod you can get a new block and 1 rod/piston for like 100 bucks
D ftw!

Well I want to build a reliable block... I just want to save some money doing so. And I got impressed by the 4dr civic which made 405whp on vitaras.. But the guy sold the car.. so i don’t know how long they last.. if they reliable and not a ticking bomb..

In this video u can hear the engine on dyno .. I don’t hear any knocking.. Or loud noise. but the spooling of the turbo & blow out valve

Re: (GG99)
If you can afford Wisecos, get those. Otherwise, get Vitaras. There's plenty of people that back them. In fact, based on the research I did, I'd use Vitaras above anything else up to ~400whp or so. Forged pistons have their problems as well.
And Vitaras are not knocking... It's due to clearance.
End thread.

Re: (Turbo_y8)
Vitars are anywhere from $120-160. I got mine for $100, and the block i originally wanted to use had ovaled cylinders. They fit in the cylinders like a limp **** in a 70yr old *****'s vagina. Supposedly you can get 75.5mm versions now, so iduno.
I got wisecos from summitracing.com for ~$445 shipped. For 300whp they recomend .0030", and the coating gives ~.0003" when fully worn off after break-in. So far with .0028" clearance, they're very quiet. They also give half a point higher compression than vitaras, and give mroe than enough deck clearance to allow the head/block to be milled.
If you do it yourself & are new at it, get whats cheap. I've build a couple small & big block v8's, so I had a slight clue as to what I was doing.

Is there a difference between him saying 10lbs and 8lbs? Not necessarily. It's not the boost, it's the horsepower. Or, if you feel like knowing boost, know the turbo as well.
