So I know people have swapped out and swapped in oem pistons on d series motors and I've done some reading about this but... I just wanna clarify that any oem d series pistons will fit my d15b8 rods with out any machining...? If anyone can just verify this thanks much...

No, "any piston" will not work. You need pistons that match your bore, as well as your wrist pin size.

Well im just doin a d15b8 mini me using the y8 head... im more or less just kinda messing around with it... but my goals I suppose is that i want to make as much power as I can with oem parts... so nothing crazy... more just having fun and I was bored so I decided to see what I can put together... its in a 97 civic dx... the original motor (d16y7) blew when my friend owned it and he picked up a 95 eg. Swapped in a jdm b18c and put the b8 in the 97 dx. now I own it and felt like tinkering with it... so far I have the complete y8 head (ecu, mani, tb, inj) along with an ex trans, new clutch and 8.5 pound flywheel. Of course intake and cat back. World sport!!! So I was thinking of putting in high compression pistons (oem) like the p29's but im just not sure if they will fit the b8 rods...

D15B8

1992–1995 Honda Civic CX (U.S. model)

Displacement : 1,493 cc (91.1 cu in)
Bore and Stroke : 75 mm × 84.5 mm (3.0 in × 3.33 in)
Compression : 9.1:1
Power : 70 hp (52.2 kW, 71.0 PS) at 4,500 rpm
Torque : 83 lb·ft (11.5 kg/m, 113 Nm) at 2,800 rpm
Limit : 5,800 rpm
Valvetrain : SOHC eight-valve (two valves per cylinder)
Fuel Control : OBD-1 MPFI

I doubt there is much you can do to make this thing have some power other than a turbo. I would just save up and do a swap.

If I swap out pistons ill probably get the rods shot peened maybe even arp studs but im not gonna be puttin crazy hp down so im not so worried bout that... im only hoping for around what a stock d16y8 would put down. Hoping... maybe even a little more with the little extra mods... flywheel, higher cr pistons, p&ped head and mani with a slight mill... and im gonna use my b16a tb...

your going to need to take to a machine shop to have them pressed on anyways.. might as well do it right the 1st time.

I have a flex hone that I used once and still has alot of life to it... your going to need to deglaze the walls with it to seat the new rings.

If you want it, hit me up and we can work something out.

All right... cool man. when I get that far ill hit you up... im not entirely sure yet if im goin to go that far yet with this motor... but im definitely thinking about it... I gotta find the pistons first... and I still gotta buy a few more little things... z6 belt and pump, tens. And the gaskets I will need.

I just did an engine build.. Use a white board to write down yuor specs and also your shopping list. Its cheaper to get a FelPro upper/lower gasket set vs individual.
