That's a .5 CR difference, I need to know which one.

0.5 total difference.
1mm = .040
0.5 = .020

.020 is your final answer.

Piston Deck Clearance Formula

Deck Height - Compression Height - Rod Length - (Stroke/2) = Piston Deck Clearance

This is using a stock D16Z6 block, D16Z6 head, D16Z6 rods, D16Z6 head gasket with PM6 pistons.

Should yield 9.95 compression. Not bad. A little low for good power.

Use a D16Y8 2-layer headgasket, 10.23 compression.

Why not use a PM7 piston? Make some power and regain some torque.

Those are ZC pistons right? What's Piston to deck height for those? 0.04? Is the D16A1 block the same specs. as other D16 blocks?

I didn't know what PTDH to put for the ZC pistons, so the CR came out to be 13+.

.040 using P29 pistons
D16Z6 block
D16Z6 head
D16Z6 headgasket
12.03 compression

Now we're talking.

If it's possible, which I think it is. Get with http://www.d-series.org and ask away. More info over there.

That's more like it! I always thought A1 pistons would bump the CR in the 13's. Now I can accomplish 12:1 CR without milling the head.
