pilot bearing or something else?
I have a 92 hatch dx that is not stock at all. Here is a link of parts. http://bluecivic.blogspot.com/2008/06/parts_26.html?m=1. any way I have had a new grinding sound it sounds like a tire rubbing on a fender but it is coming from the tranny and it will do it in gear and out of gear, shifts fine runs great just sounds horrible. Just started now it comes and goes but there more often then not. Was told it could be my pilot bearing just wanted to make sure before I order parts

Re: pilot bearing or something else?
The pilot bearing is not spinning when the clutch is engaged (pedal released). When clutch is disengaged (pedal pressed down) the input shaft of the transmission and the crankshaft of the engine are allowed to spin different speeds, and the pilot bearing between the two is spinning (or in the case of a bushing, the input shaft is spinning inside the pilot bushing). So, when in gear and driving, or even when in neutral, but your foot is off the clutch, the pilot bearing isn't spinning and wouldn't make noise even if it was bad.

It does it right from start up. But it is not constant some times if I rev it it will go away for a min sometimes not. It seems to be completely random other then sometimes the clutch will effect it how it sounds and what not
