The car I bought to KEEP stock for my wife. On the way home oil light came on and major knocking occurred. Drove it all the way. 3~ miles. It's a d15b7 auto.
Now I know Hondas well enough SOOOO I'm planning on just finding a short block or longblock and just swapping it out.
But is there a possibility that the engine can be saved that's in there now???? Or crank is probly EF'd? Like if I get new oil pump and bearings.. Advise on a el cheapo route

It's hard to know why it's knocking. Could be a rod bearing (easy) or main bearing (not worth it). Either way.....just find a good D15/16 longblock and swap it over.

Bought mine from hmotorsonline. Was a good price for the longblock and 4 years later it still runs great. Also bought the same motor for my sister's civic and hers runs great as well.
Good luck.
