Picked up the Si shell..> Couple questions
I picked up the 92 si i told you about. Has a Y8 with something wrong with the rods supposedly... It Makes a knocking noise. Anyway I was just wondering if I could just by a D16Y8 bottom and just replace the current one in order to get it running okay.
Thanks

Take off the head and check it. If its good then yes.
I would also check the block, you might be able to still used it with a hone and new rods and pistons.

Why spend money on that motor. Just save for something better that is in good condition. Unless you are doing this yourself, it is not worth the money. You would be better off getting a new engine. But if all you want to do is fix it then have a mechanic look at the head and the block to make sure you know exactly what it needs before you go and spend money on stuff..if you aren't experienced that is.

d15b..... 650 shipped, low mileage and more power.
i would just swap the whole thing instead of trying to find a shortblock.
