have any of you ever heard of the springs on a pressure plate breaking? when i got into my car this morning and pushed the clutch pedal in to start it, i heard a popping sound that sounded like a peice of metal breaking. I let the clutch out and when i pushed it back in, i noticed it was a lot easier to push in than it was beforee (i have the ACT heavy duty pressure plate.) i had to drive to class like that and it drove ok i guess. it seemed a little bit harder to switch gears, but that could have just been my imagination. the pedal felt normal, just a lot easier to push. not like when you need to bleed your line and there's a lot of slack with the normal amount of resistance near the end of the pedal travel. i bled the clutch line anyway, but it didn't change anything. also, when i got up to speed on the freeway and boost built up, my clutch slipped like crazy.

Anyway, does anyone know what could be causing this problem? i've never heard of springs on pressure plates breaking before. If anyone's ever had a similar problem, could you tell me what caused it and how to fix it?

i have heard of them wearing out.... but you coullld also just be getting used to the pressure and your mind is just playing tricks on you

this didn't happen over time though. it was a ton stiffer last night. that wouldn't explain the slippage either.

my act HD pressure plate is having problems to.The sad thing is most people have relitively low miles on the clutch.Mine only has 10k and the TOB and pp need to be replaced.Who knows how bad the fly wheels is.Id say find out what it is and fix it(most likly the shitty quality of the act).

i want to know if anyone else's pressure plate spring has broken before or if that never happens and it's something else.

that happened to me.. but then later.. i found out that the spring in the clutch pad.. had fell out.. so it fucked up my tranny.. maybe you should try taking a look! IM me if you need any help

presure plate spring on my stock clutch broke. Or more like pressure plate broke and spring fell out. i'll take a pic of it if i get a chance this weekend.
