Default Performance Chip for my ECU

i'm about to get an individual performance chip for my ECU, will i have to soder it in? or will it have a socket to plug it into? if anyone has ever put a chip into their ECU themself advice would be great.

you can do it either way (I recommend the IC socket), but unless that chip was tuned for your specific car, it won't make you any faster.

I wouldn't try to do something like that if you have to ask. Have a professional do it.
