Default People with HIGH Spring Rates

Hey,

Well I'm redoing my suspension this winter and have settled on the Koni/GC combo but I haven't decided on my spring rates yet. My primary use of the car will be auto-x/ road racing but I'll have to drive to the events on my street tires. I would love a trailer but realistically I won't be able to afford it next summer. I'll also want to drive the car on the weekends to meets and stuff like that.

To sum it up, my car will probably be driven everyday but WILL NOT be my DD

Now, with that in mind, I want spring rates that will allow me to be competitive on the track but not absolutely brutal on the street. It must be fun to drive the car on the street. I don't want to be bouncing through turns or anything like that.

Also, keep this in mind, I'll be running big sway bars (jdm itr 24mm front and 26mm mugen rear) so that'll help with body roll.

I live in VA so the streets are decent.

I was thinking 450/500 GC's with revalved koni's, would that be tolerable on the street?

What are you guys running?

depends on your streets, and your level of tolerance. I say, generally, under 500/500 is ok on the street and manages on track. That is just MHO.

Kind of defies the definition, no?

I did the GC/Koni set up. I got the 250/350 (or something like that) spring rate - That's what GC recommended for street driving. I figured with Koni's and the comptech rear sway that would do! But as you saw yesterday, I haven't got the car on the ground so I can't tell you what I think

i have 10k/8k right now, but have tried 12/10 on the street. the 12/10 is a bit much for daily driving, but 10/8 is more than fine for daily. but since you are only using it for driving to and from events, try 12/10.

I had 400 front/600 rear. Id say 600 front/800 rear would be perfect.

450/500? damn, why you running stock rates?

i ran 700/600 on the street for years, and it was fine. it was a little rough on square edge bumps, and bumpy back roads, but for the most part it was very tolerable. i did however have really good shocks. now, i run 800/1000, so i may draw the line there.
