I had a 2000si. I got rid of it due to constant vandalism... I went to a 97 accord which was slammed to all hell and had $4000 worth of stereo crap. It got jacked and I bought my hatch from a friend cuz i needed something to drive, but i grew into it. I didn't like hatches before... but now it's all good. I like it alot more than my coupe si.

The only thing i need now would be two cams instead of one...

Well the reason for me asking is I currently have a 99SI and I can get a hatch VX and mod that. I dont know if its worth selling the SI for about 13 - 14K and then spending most of that on a 94 hatch for a swap, brakes, interior etc. Hence I wanted to see some opinions... both pros / cons etc.

Thanks for the input so far

If you sell the SI are you planning on putting the engine in the Hatch?

Actually if I am going to swap I will do either c1 or c5 or get a JDM R spec engine.

One of my best friends had a 1999 Civic Si with all the regular bolt-ons. His was pretty quick for what it was - ran 15.8 or so.

He sold it to build up a 1992 DX hatchback. He dropped in a JDM Second-gen B16A swap into it and he never looked back.

If you want a quicker car, get the hatch. It's as simple as power-to-weight ratio math. There is no argument from a speed standpoint.

Now if you just love the coupe styling then there's not much anyone can say to sway your opinion.

Those who might argue that "the Si has cruise, sunroof, 4-wheel discs, A/C, power windows and doorlocks, etc." might not realize that the 1992-1995 Si hatch has all of that except for the power windows and locks, but that can be added from the 1993-1995 EX coupe.

If you put a B18C1 or especially B18C5 I really don't think you'll miss your 99 Si. After a while you begin to appreciate the lack of options because it only helps the car to be quicker.

Hell a full interior'd 1992 CX with A/C would still weigh like 500lbs. or so less than the 1999-2000 Si coupe.

The choice is easy if you want to be faster for cheaper.

Need I also include that insurance on a 1992 hatch is WAY cheaper as well? Also the overall cost is way less than even used Si coupes.

My whole car including B18C5, paint, bosy, the car itslef, suspension, wheels/tires, GS-R brakes and seats, etc. all cost me around $12,000.00 or so total.

Compare that to $14,000.00+ that the 99-00 used Si goes for and the value is easily seen.

sold my 2k si for $19,000. Spent $6,000 on my wedding, $3,000 on my honeymoon, and $10,000 on a 13 second hatch. I have no complaints .

I have a 92 VX with a B16 and no A/C, cruise, ps, ect, my wife has a 00 EX. I love my hatch, love the style but it's a 10 year old car with no creature comforts. Even though my wifes ex is a auto I love driving it and not having to worry about what's gonna break or rattle next. I would love to have a new SI. Even though it would be alot slower than my hatch it still drives alot better, had a/c, ps, cruise, abs, cd player with decent sound, leather wrapped wheel and shift ****. It's quite, rides nice, is alot more reliable and still has lots of room for upgrades.
Like everyone says it is a tank though, and $14,000 is a car payment which I don't have now. If I could trade my hatch for a new si I would do it even though I would be in the SI crowd.
