Pennzoil tranny fluid?

I've been looking around for MTF at several parts stores. No one carries what I thought would be GM syncromesh but I did find Pennzoil Syncromesh for Gm vehicles, The bottle didn't say anything about friction stuff like I've heard.

I guess I can get Honda MTF at the dealer, which should I use for smoother shifts? Honda MTF? Or pennzoil/GM syncromesh?

Is this Pennzoil Gm syncromesh the same stuff as the Gm syncromesh people talk about?

Thanks.

From what I have read: The Pennzoil stuff is the same as the GM stuff but its not the "Friction Modified" one. (theres regular and Friction Modified). Also on the bottle itself it mentions something about GM trannys.

From what I have experienced: I used the Pennzoil stuff in my B16 tranny and its nice for the first couple hundred miles, but then it begins to feel kinda stiff for some reason. I switched to Castrol GTX 10W-30 and its a lot better than how the Pennzoil felt...

Places like Autozone and pepboys don't usually have it. If you're still interested in getting it, go to a local/small auto parts store. They most likely have it. But I'd just stick with Honda MTF

So where can I get that friction modified stuff? I'll return that pennzoil stuff.

Only GM dealerships sell it as far as I know.

Autozone carries the Pennzoil Synchromesh. It's in the gear oil section.

That's what I have, and it's not the same as the Friction modified stuff.

The GM dealership doesnt even have synchomesh in stock. Methinks because most of the GMs they sell are automatics. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emsad.gif

Check a different dealer. The one near me(that a friend happens to work at) always has it in stock.

I've heard a lot more good things about GM Synchro Friction modified. Do a google search on it and see how many car forums have posted amazing results.

Rsx forum, NSX forum, S2k forum, 240/silvia forums. Just off the top of my head from what I saw. Even the guys that posted royal purple got shot down by GM synchro users.

yea i've used royal purple 10w-30...works fine...but if some grinds you want to get rid of get the GM syncromesh...but thing is my buddy with his LS used some pennzoil on his tranny and the grinding in 2nd and 3 gear went away...not completely though...
