So i went into the wall mart, didnt have enough cash on me, so i got some pennzoil 5-w20 platinum. Now after i changed my oil with this stuff, i hear bad things....is this true? im only gonna use it for 3k miles and then go back to mobil1. Will this destroy my engine? i have a d16y8 thanks guys!~

IDK, but i always use castrol GTX 10w-30. it's pretty good, no problems. i wouldn't worry about it. as long as you do a change every 3K.

What "bad things" have you heard? The only issue I see is that you went with a thinner viscosity than is recommended for your motor, which shouldn't really present a problem in this instance.

And Mistermark, I'm curious what information you've used to arrive at the generalization that "Pennzoil is all crap".

Penzoil uses some kind of wax I believe! I've seen it leave HUGE deposits of crap in the head!

Pennzoil is actually pretty darn good for the price...I've done thousands of oil changes using Pennzoil oil and filters with no ill effects whatsoever. I'd use it on my car, although i'd use the right viscosity for the application.

Who gives a ****? You have a D16Y8. You don't need "good" oil for it and you don't need to change the **** that you use every 3000 miles. You're wasting a shitload of money being a dumbass. Changing Mobil1 every 3000 miles for an economy car engine that sees nothing but daily driving duty and makes 124hp brand new is like taking 100mgs of Cocaine every half hour for a cut on your knee.

Awesome!
