Default peeps driving hatches with B18C5 swaps...

just wanted to know how much you guys spent on your rides...ballpark figure...don't have to be exact dollar amount. i'm thinking of getting one next year and dropping in a B18C5 short block with B16A2 head or ITR head on it (ITR tranny...maybe). any web addy's i should check out and research before jumping into this? i read some of C-Speed racing site with B18C5 all motor build up and looks interesting. i'm going all motor only...no FIs. also, which hatch is the lightest or best match with the B18C5 (year, model) to get for my 'project' hatch? thanks in advance...

lightest will be the 1992-1995 Civic CX. Weights somthing lik 2098lbs. I would get the VX, its already got the vtec wire, makes the swap easier. Expect to spend anywhere from $1500-$5000 for the hatch and bout $4-5000 for the motor.

I agree with Downey on the prices and the model choice. Are you going to be doing the labor yourself? If not expect to spend about a grand on that as well. Less if you buy a car with no motor. I'm running that setup in my coupe. The motor is really strong and should net some great results in a hatch.

actually the VX is the lightest.
it's the high MPG one, so it'd make more sense for it to be the lightest. the CX was just the cheap-o one... it had like an 8 valve engine and crap.... yeah, so anyway, most desirable is VX and Si, cause they have vtec wires... Si maintains a decent amount of luxury too...

word to your mother the VX is the lightest only a little more than the cx. VTEC isnt hard to wire up so thats not a prob. The vx,dx,cx are all the freaking same sheot once you srip small things, change wheels, and the motor. So any hatch is good. Also all 92 hatches have VTEC already wired up, all of them. And the SI is nice but its too heavy for me.

I have a b18c1 swap with much work done to the engine in an SiR/Si body. The car is fairly fast, ... however I think a hatchback with b18c5 would be much faster.

I have a B18c5 in my hatch and I like a lot. The motor is expensive but I honestly and very pleased with the results and I am happy that I threw down the cash. I just have bolt ons and I am running in the 13's on street tires. Next mod is turbo.

I did that swap and I'm happy with it (Even though it's still not running right). I Have a JDM ITR motor. I dyno'd @ 175 to the wheels with BS mods. I did it in a SI because I drove a Type for 2 years (Without a sunroof and cruise control) so I decided to splurge and pay 4 g's for a SI hatch for those little luxury items. The motor was about 5500 bux shipped.

bought my 93 si hb in 1993 brand new for $12,800

put in my 97 itr motor last year cost of motor/trans etc ($5700)

various other things needed to make my swap "mine" ~$1500

total other stuff (not necessary) ~ $3500

I guess you could say I've got about $23500 in my car! it adds up quick!
