Passing State Inspection + Winshield Resevoir Washer Tank

Passing State Inspection + Winshield Resevoir Washer Tank
I've owned my car for nearly five years, and all the previous years it has passed inspection w/ no washer resevoir tank. (Carbon Fiber Hood w/ no squirters)
Personally, I think the insector is being a douche bag. Anyone have any experience with this?

Re: Passing State Inspection + Winshield Resevoir Washer Tank (DxHatchback)
My squirters don't work b/c i have a clog in my system somewhere but I've passed PA inspection twice like that. (I'll prolly pass again and then I'll replace the clogged hoses)
I know it is a PA inspection item but if he isn't passing you he is trying to be a hardass.
Where in PA are you trying to get inspection?

Personally, I'd just install the washer and squirters. Especially here in the northeast, visibility can often be impaired in winter months due to the combination of water and salt that is thrown onto the windshield. It shouldn't be very difficult to get the system up and running.

It's no more difficult than installing hood pins, which also requires drilling of the hood. Of course, since the original poster seems to have torn out the entire system, getting it operational again would obviously be more difficult.

If you have difficulty locating one, you could try something like this kit instead.

You would only need one of the three kits listed. It is available with a vertical tank, a horizontal tank, or a flexible bag. This is just to give you an option as to which shape of reservoir you want to use, so that you can select the one that will best fit in your engine bay. The flexible bag version is intended for use where the vertical or horizontal tank would not fit.

What are the inspection criteria for passenger cars and light duty trucks?
TopReturn to Top
Safety inspections for passenger cars and light-duty trucks require that the following items be checked: suspension components, steering, braking systems, tires and wheels, lighting and electrical systems, glazing (glass), mirrors, windshield washer, defroster, wipers, fuel systems, the speedometer, the odometer, the exhaust systems, horns and warning devices, the body, and chassis. For most vehicles in the 42 county, Non-I/M region this safety inspection will also include a Visual Anti-Tampering Check. The Visual Anti-Tampering Check is an examination of the vehicle to see if the required emissions components have been tampered with or removed. For more information concerning the 42 County Visual Anti-Tampering Check, please visit the PA Code Website. For a complete list of the rejection criteria for passenger cars and light duty trucks, please visit the PA Code Web site.

Each one of those kits comes with a tank. You select whether you want a horizontal, vertical, or flexible tank.
